Since the Buckmasters have made several appearances here in the past few months, I thought I'd look into them; fortunately I already had some notes on them by virtue of their relationship to the Geidt family, as below:
Henry Gerald Buckmaster s. of Richard Guy Buckmaster (1917-1986), of Drive Cottage, Radway, Warwicks., late Welsh Guards, and [m. 1952] (Helen) Jacqueline, dau. of - Leche. Their eldest daughter, Maria Elena, m. 1977, John Dru Montagu, s. of Hon. William Drogo Sturges Montagu, s. of the 9th Earl of Sandwich. Alfred Geidt's elder brother, Bernard George Geidt (1855-1913), of Bayshill House, Cheltenham, Glos., educ. Shrewsbury, emp. Indian Civil Service (Assistant Magistrate and Collector, Burdwan, Bengal 1876-, assistant commissioner and personal assistant to the chief commissioner at Assam, appointed member of the Lieutenant Governor's Council 1901, high court judge at Calcutta 1902-4, at Fort William, Bengal 1904-8) was grandfather of the actor Jeremy Geidt (1930-2015) and great-grandfather of Sir Christopher Geidt (1961-), G.C.B., G.C.V.O., O.B.E., Q.S.O., P.C., former private secretary to H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, whose wife Emma is dau. of Baron Neill of Bladen, Q.C.
