From the Times of 28 Feb 2022: SHAW OF TORDARROCH Silvia Margaret (née Silian Jones) died on 23rd February 2022 at home in London, aged 83, surrounded by her family. Beloved mother of Rebecca, Iain, Julia and Fiona, grandmother of twelve and great-grandmother of two.

She was d of Rev David John Silian JONES 1901- and Bertha Margaret ALCOCK 1917-. She m 1960 John SHAW OF TORDARROCH 1937-2017 22nd Chief of that name (s of Maj Charles John SHAW OF TORDARROCH 21st Chief 1899-1978 and Lillian d 1989 d of John Farley ELFORD and Ethel Fitzmayer STEPHEN 1869-?), and had a son (23rd Chief) and three daus as above.

The late Mrs Shaw's eldest daughter, Rebecca, is the widow of the Life Peer, Baron Fraser of Corriegarth (see Richard's posting of the news of his death last year at https://groups.google.com/g/peerage-news/c/6lRHH4cQOxA).

The Rev David John Silian JONES (29 I 1901 - 26 III 1957) was Rector of Erbistock, 1934-44, Rector of Overton, 1944-47, and Rector of Overton and Erbistock, 1947-57. His wife, Bertha Margaret ALCOCK, appears to have been born on 12 March 1907, and to have died, aged 89, in 1996 (see Scotland's People).

Per Free BMD, the birth of John Farley ELFORD was registered in Q1 1873 in St Thomas, Devon. His marriage to Ethel Fitzmayer STEPHEN took place in 1909 (registered Q3 - St George Hanover Square). The death, at the age of 86, of a John F ELFORD, which I take to be him, was registered in Stafford in Q1 1959. Per Scotland's People, his wife died in 1950, aged 81 (ref 059/A6 - Avoch), and their daughter, Mrs Lilian SHAW OF TORDARROCH, was 78 when she died in 1989 (ref 196/59 - Dingwall).
