From the Telegraph of 14 Sep 2024: Mr M.A.G. Nicoll and Miss A.K. Hayward - The engagement is announced between Murdo, youngest son of Mr Angus Nicoll, MBE, and Mrs Nicoll, of Calvine, Pitlochry, Perthshire, and Antonia (Tershie), youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Hayward, of Upper Siddington, Gloucestershire.

A/Cdr George Penkivil Slade's paternal grandfather and namesake was the artist and lawyer George Penkivil SLADE (c.1832 - 1896). His maternal grandparents were Charles Gabriel BEALE JP (10 V 1843 - 1 IX 1912) and his wife (married 7 VIII 1868), Alice KENRICK (26 V 1845 - 20 III 1940), whose sister Florence KENRICK (19 VIII 1847 - 14 II 1875) was the second wife (married 8 VI 1868) of the Rt Hon Joseph CHAMBERLAIN (8 VII 1836 - 2 VII 1914), by whom she was the mother of the Rt Hon (Arthur) Neville CHAMBERLAIN (18 III 1869 - 9 XI 1940), Prime Minister, 1937-40.
 
Charles Gabriel Beale was Lord Mayor of Birmingham in 1897, 1898,1899 and 1905. He was a brother of Sir William Phipson BEALE, 1st and last Bt, KC (29 X 1839 - 13 IV 1922), MP (Liberal) for South Ayrshire, 1906-18.
 
A/Cdr Slade was also a second cousin once removed downwards of Neville Chamberlain's stepbrother, the Rt Hon Sir (Joseph) Austen CHAMBERLAIN, KG (16 X 1863 - 16 III 1937), Leader of the Conservative Party 1921-22, who was the son of the Rt Hon Joseph Chamberlain by his first wife (married 30 VII 1861), Harriet KENRICK (5 XI 1835 - 22 X 1863), who was a first cousin of Alice and Florence.
 
A/Cdr Slade's father-in-law, the Rev Canon William Hartley Carnegie was married secondly in 1916 to (as her second husband) Mrs Mary Crownishield CHAMBERLAIN, née ENDICOTT (16 IV 1864 - 17 V 1957), the widow of the Rt Hon Joseph Chamberlain, to whom she had been married as his third wife on 26 November 1888.
 
Through her Kenrick descent, Mrs Georgiana Heywood is her husband's fifth cousin, twice removed downwards:
