He was s of Maj-Gen Henry William NEWCOME CB CMG DSO 1875-1963 (whom he succ. as) head of that gentry family f/o Hale Place and his 1st w (her 2nd h) Lady Helen Alice BOOTLE-WILBRAHAM 1890-1929 d of 2nd Earl of LATHOM 1864-1910 and Lady Wilma PLEYDELL-BOUVERIE 1869-1931 d of 5th Earl of RADNOR 1841-1900 etc. He m 1952 Jane Mackay d of Lt-Gen Sir Ronald Mackenzie SCOBIE KBE CB 1893-1969 and Joan Duncan 1904-93 d of William Henry SIDEBOTHAM 1870-1954 of Surrey by his 1903 m reg Q3 Lancs to Lilian Duncan KELK 1876-1948, and had three sons the yst of whom (Charles John b 1958, d 1959) predeceased him. His eld son succeeds as head of the family:
