She was the dau of late Lord Greenwell of Rossendale (Arthur William James  Greenwood) (life peer 1970) (d 1982).  She m 1970 David Murray.  Her mother Gillian Crawshay-Williams was a descendant of the 1st Baron Monkswell

She argued that rather than being seen as a disability, autism should be seen as part of a continuum of human characteristics

Dinah Karen Crawshay Greenwood was born on May 27 1946, the daughter of the Labour politician Tony Greenwood and Gillian (née Crawshay-Williams), a designer.

In 1970 she married the philosopher and music critic David Murray, who died in 2016. She is survived by their three sons and a foster son.
