From the Times of 5 Aug 2025: PINSENT Jean Grizel (née McMicking) died peacefully on 1st August 2025, aged 91. Much-loved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and wife of Ewen (died 2020). Lived a life full of love, kindness, generosity and integrity. Funeral on 11th August at 11am in Sherborne Abbey — all very welcome.

She was d of Maj-Gen Neil McMICKING CB CBE DSO MC 1894-1963 sometime head of that Scots gentry family of Miltonise, and Margaret Winifred LANDALE 1903-89 scion of that Scots gentry family of Dalswinton. She m 1962 Rev Ewen Macpherson 1930-2020 s of Clive PINSENT 1886-1948 (s of Sir Richard Alfred PINSENT 1st Bt 1852-1948) and Kathleen Jane 1895-1974 d of George MACPHERSON 1851-1924 of The Lloyd House, Wolverhampton, and Hilda Mary MARTEN 1868-1924, and had two sons (including the Olympic rowing phenomenon Sir Matthew Clive PINSENT CBE b 1970) and two daus.
