The Queen has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 2 October 2013 to confer the dignity of a Barony of the United Kingdom for life upon Sir Charles Lamb Allen, Knight, CBE, by the name, style and title of BARON ALLEN OF KENSINGTON, of Kensington in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Sir Charles Lamb ALLEN CBE FRSA FCMA, b 4 January 1957 (Lanark, Scotland) son of a hairdresser who died when Lord Allen of Kensington was aged 14 (*). Chairman: Global Radio Group, since 2007; 2 Sisters Food Group, since 2011; Senior Advisor, Goldman Sachs Equity Partners, since 2008. He trained as an accountant, starting his career at British Steel in 1974 (*). Chairman of the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and a director of the 2012 Olympic Games. He was listed 22nd in The Independent's 2008 list of the UK's most influential gay and lesbian people (source: Wikipedia). Lives with his partner Michael (*). His house is reportedly worth £50m, but he doesn't appear in The Sunday Times Rich List 2013, where entry level is restricted to those worth £75m or more.
