He was s of Maj Rosslyn Fairfax Huxley COWEN MBE 1919-2016 by his 1947 m reg Q4 Hants to as his 1^st w (his 2^nd w was the only child 1^st & only Baron Rank) Rosemary Arden 1917-2005 d of William Henry CLEGG 1867-1945 of Silwood House, Weeke, Hants by his 1916 m to as his 2^nd w Elinor Constance Mary Clement BOWEN 1890-1954. He m 1974 (div 2000) Annabel b 1953 d of Lt-Cdr Thomas Michael BLAKE RN 1912-84 and Carol Patricia Benita 1928-2021 d of Sir Harold Alwyne PELLY 5th Bt MC 1893-1981 and Caroline Earle 1894-1976 d of Richard Heywood HEYWOOD JONES 1853-1900 sometime head of that gentry family of Badsworth Hall, and Caroline Margaret JOHNSTON 1867-1926, and had three daus as above.

The late Mr Cowen's second wife (it would seem that he was her third husband), now his widow, would appear to be Lucinda Mary ("Lulu"), née SHERSTON (born 30 V 1959), of that landed gentry (LG) family, whose first husband (married 1983) was Robert John Denis SCHIFF (5 V 1958 - 7 VII 1990, a great-grandson maternally of the 5th Baron Clanmorris), and whose second husband (married 1992) was Andrew Nigel Crosbie BENGOUGH (born 13 II 1954), of that LG family. By her first husband, she had the three sons mentioned in their stepfather's death notice: Frederick John Albert ("Fred") SCHIFF (born 1984), Maximilian Robert Denis ("Max") SCHIFF (born 1986) and Robert Edmund Bingham ("Bert") SCHIFF (born (posthumous) 1990).
