The late Mrs Stratton, née Carole Jane BOUWENS, was born in 1941 (registered Q2 - Ripon) as the only child of Sqn-Ldr John Theodore BOUWENS, DFC (1916 - 22 IV 1942) and his wife (married 1940, as her first husband), Mary Gwendoline FRENCH (15 XII 1917 - 25 II 1985). Her mother was married secondly, in 1945, to Edward Warren Darby MADOC (formerly MADOC-JONES; 1900 - 17 II 1982), one of the three largest commercial beekeepers in Britain, by whom she had another daughter, Sally E MADOC (birth registered Q1 1950 - Wayland, Norfolk).
Sqn-Ldr John Theodore BOUWENS was the second son of Bethell Godefroy BOUWENS (9 II 1884 - 24 X 1942) and his wife (married 20 VII 1912, as her first husband), the Hon Margaret Henrietta ("Peggy") DE GREY (15 XI 1889 - 13 VII 1978), daughter of the 7th Baron Walsingham. Mrs Stratton's stepsister, Sally E MADOC, was married, firstly, in 1971 (registered Q2 - Wayland) to (as his first wife) Dirk Murray BOUWENS (1947 - 20 VI 2021), who was the eldest son of Derek BOUWENS (1913 - 23 XI 1983), the eldest brother of Mrs Stratton's father, Sqn-Ldr John Bouwens. Mrs Sally Bouwens, née Madoc, was married secondly, on 6 August 1976, to (as his third wife) Sir Thomas Agnew BEEVOR, 7th Bt (6 I 1929 - 21 I 2017).
