He was s of Raymond George GAMBRILL 1918-75 and Gladys Mary 1914-67 d of Richard Montacute William SELBY-LOWNDES 1876-1930 scion of that gentry family f/o Whaddon and Ada Mary Gladys DUNCAN 1885-1953. He m 1986 reg Q2 Devon Catriona (Katie) Jennet Edington b 1954 d of James Humphrey George WOOLLCOMBE 1925-2007 sometime head of that gentry family of Hemerdon and Felice George Ingle FINCH 1929-81, and had two daus:

1. Mary Victoria Woollcombe b 30 March 1987 (Times 3 April)

2. Charis Elizabeth b 18 July 1990 (Times 20 July)
