LEIGH, Sir Richard Henry, 3rd Baronet (1936-2021)

The latest version of the online Official Roll of the Baronetage now shows the Leigh of Altrincham baronetcy (UK 1918) as being vacant.

Sarah Rawlings of the SCB has kindly informed me that she had been contacted by Lady Leigh to say that Sir Richard Leigh Bt died on 2 July 2021.

He was the elder son of Lt-Cdr Eric Leigh (1913-1981), second son of the 1st Baronet and (m 1934 div 1939) Joan Fitzgerald Lane Freer (d 1973).  He m (1) 1962 (div 1977) Barbro Anna Elizabeth dau of Stig Carl Sebastian Tham of Sweden and (2) 1977 Mrs Cherie Rosalind Reece dau of Douglas Donald Dale of France.  No issue.  He succ his uncle Sir John Leigh, 2nd Bt in 1992.

The 4th Baronet (not yet on the Official Roll) is Sir Richard's half-brother Christopher John Leigh (b 6 Apr 1941) son of Lt-Cdr Eric Leigh by his 2nd m 1939 to Mary Babette Jacques (d 1993).  He m 1963 Gillian Ismay dau of William King Lowe and they have a son and a dau.  The son Edward John b 1970 is now ha - he m 1999 Rebecca Mary Streeter and they have 2 daus.

Next heir after the Heir is the 3rd son of Sir John Leigh line, David Leigh, (1921-), his son Peregrine William Leigh, (1955, then his son Ranald Geoffrey Merlin Leigh, (1992-), unsure if he is married.
