Romance is in the air at the Newmarket estate of Prince Khalid Abdullah, owner of the world’s greatest racehorse, Frankel.
For just days after Frankel began his stud duties, which are expected to net £200 million in fees, Khalid’s long-time racing manager, Lord Grimthorpe, has himself found love.
Divorcee Teddy Grimthorpe, 58, who has worked for the Saudi prince for 14 years, has been stepping out with blonde Emma Benyon, the former wife of Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon.
He tells me: ‘We’ve known each other for ages and have been dating for the past three or four years. We are going to have a very quiet wedding in London in June.’
The couple have six grown-up children from past marriages. Teddy’s mother, Elizabeth, who was a close friend and Lady of the Bedchamber to the Queen Mother, is said to be ‘absolutely delighted’.
