The 4th Baron Strathcona & Mount Royal died on 16 June 2018.

He was the s of 3rd Baron STRATHCONA & MOUNT ROYAL (1891-1959) and Hon Diana Evelyn LODER (1899-1985) d of 1st Baron WAKEHURST (1861-1936) and Lady Louise de Vere BEAUCLERK (1868-1958) d of 10th Duke of ST ALBANS (1840-98) - with all the royal descents and kinships that suggests. He m 1st 1954 (div 1977) as her 1st husband, Lady Jane Mary WALDEGRAVE (b 1934) d of 12th Earl WALDEGRAVE (1905-95) and Mary Hermione GRENFELL (1909-95), scion of the GRENFELL barons and descended from the 2nd Earl SPENCER - with all the royal associations and kinships that suggests, and had 2 sons and three daus. He m 2nd 1978 Paticia (Widow of John Middleton) d of Harvey Evelyn THOMAS. His eldest son succeeds him:

Donald Alexander Smith HOWARD (b 1961) [5th] Baron STRATHCONA & MOUNT ROYAL. Has yet to establish his claim and appear on The Royal of the Peerage. He m 1992 Jane Maree d of R Shaun GIBB of Sydney, Australia, and has issue:

The death notice is in the Times of 19 June 2018: STRATHCONA AND MOUNT ROYAL  Lord Euan on 16th June 2018 died peacefully at home on Colonsay, aged 94. Beloved husband of Patricia, father of Jane, Katie, Caro, Alex, Andrew and Emma and grandfather of seventeen. A private funeral on Colonsay, will be followed by a memorial service in London, at a later date.

CORRECTION: the late Lord Strathcona & Mount Royal had FOUR daus.

John McPhee, an American author of many acclaimed non-fiction books, wrote about Lord Strathcona & Mount Royal in his book "The Crofter and the Laird.," Strathcona being the Laird of the title.
