From the Telegraph of 29 Sept 2022: RYDER Valerie Nina (née Soames) died peacefully at home on 18th September 2022 aged 94. Devoted wife of the late Edward Dorian Dudley, beloved mother of Jennifer, Vanessa and Nick. Adored grandmother to Sophie, Lucy, Amy, Alexander, Oliver, Mark, India and Ben and loving great grandmother to Algie, Rupert, Teddy, Charlie, Katie, Emily, Henry and Alexander. Private funeral to follow.

She was d of John Beecroft SOAMES 1884-1951 2nd s of William Aldwin SOAMES 1850-1916 scion of that gentry family of Hamsell Manor and Caroline Louisa 1852-1934 d of Henry Beecroft JACKSON of Whalley Grange - see note *) and Glory _. She m 1948 Edward Dorrien Dudley 1924-84 s of Maj Henry Dudley RYDER MC 1894-1958 (gs of 4th Earl of HARROWBY 1836-1900) and Dorothy Marion STREATFIELD 1894-1968 scion of that gentry family f/o Chiddingstone, and had a son and two daus as above.

The latter also had a 3rd & yst son Lt Harold Martin SOAMES 1887-ka1914 having m 7 Oct 1913 Colleen Ruth 1889-1955 d of Dr Augustus Whitehouse ADDINSELL MD and had a dau Rachel Honor Martin 1914-2014 who m c 1937 reg Q1 London Michael Spencer GOSLING 1912-79 scion of that gentry family of Thrimley House and had 2 sons and two daus)
