I know that you are restricting your list to Maids of Honor, but this is a
good place to mention that, for those interested, there are three volumes
of letters between Frances, Countess of Hertford [later Dss of Somerset]
and Henrietta, Countess of Pomfret, who were both Ladies of the Bedchamber
to Queen Caroline. Their service to the Queen is mentioned often.

Miss Mackenzie is identified in the Celtic Magazine, page 163:

There is a document online with a full list of everyone in the Queen's
Household.
It lists twenty-three of them (if I counted correctly)

I had mistakenly posted (and deleted) a post indicating that "Miss Poyntz"
was the later Countess Spencer, but that was incorrect, since she was later.
However, Countess Spencer's mother was the Anna Maria Mordaunt who is also
on the list.

As for the "Schutz" in the longer list, she was likely a sister or aunt to
George Augustus Schutz (1722-1749), page to the Duke of Cumberland, and his
brother George Frederick Schutz (1724-1802), groom to George III. They were
likely sons of Baron Augustus Schutz (1690-1757), Master of the Robes to
George II.

As for Anne Pitt:
In the volume of the Yale Walpole containing the letters between Walpole
and Anne Pitt, the editors supply a biographical footnote (see attached).
Walpole wrote of her in 1774:
"Lady Bute desires me to tell you that Mrs. Anne Pitt is going
to Pisa, and that I would recommend her to yon. I should do
that on
my own account, as I am very intimate with her. You know she is
Lord Chatham's sister, as well as his very ioiage ; but you
must take care not to make your court to her on that head, as
they are no dear friends. She has excellent parts, a great deal
of wit and not so sweet a temper as to contradict the likeness
of her features... She is extremely well-bred, and knows the world
perfectly. In short, she will be much pleased with your
attentions, and will please you in a very different way from the
generality of our exports. I dread sending you any body that I
have not known long, and some that I do ; but there is no
danger from Mrs. Pitt, who has always lived in the great world,
and is not of an age to play the fool — especially on a small
theatre. She has not succeeded so well as she intended on a
very large one [meaning as Privy Purse to Pss of Wales] ; but you may
depend upon it, Tuscany will not tempt her. I will not answer
but she may take liberties with some that have been
tempted by great duchies [referring to Dss of Cumberland]; but you
will have the prudence not to seem to hear what it is better
not to answer. "
When she died, all Walpole wrote was "Poor Lady Dick is dead, and Mrs Anne
Pitt; the latter in a madhouse."

"his very ioiage"
that should be "his very image". I copied the text from an online version
which was apparently prepared by a computer which mis-read many words. I
corrected most of the errors but missed this one.

Ethel Greenfield Booth 1914 - 2018

Navy veteran - dies at 103. Ethel was born in New York City to Sadie and
Joseph Greenfield, who had emigrated from Romania earlier in the century.
Growing up in Manhattan and the Bronx with her younger sister, Gladys,
Ethel graduated from George Washington High School, Barnard ('32) and
Teachers College. Going on to teach History at legendary High School of
Music and Art ("Fame"), Ethel also entered, and won, a singing competition
on "The Major Bowes Amateur Hour" - the "American Idol" of its day. She was
asked to go on tour with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, but her father said,
"No." Because WWII had broken out, Ethel enlisted in the women's branch of
the Navy, the WAVES, instead. Serving in Hollywood, FL, and San Francisco,
she also wrote an ongoing column for the Waves' newsletter ("Creating a
Ripple") as Ensign Ethel Greenfield. After the War, Ethel moved to
Bakersfield to work in radio, later becoming Head of Women's Programs at
fledgling TV station KTLA in Los Angeles, writing and producing numerous
live-tv shows. On-the-job romance ensued, and she married KTLA Program
Director *[Sir]* *Philip Booth, [2nd Baronet]*. Because her husband was
British-American and a titled baronet, upon her marriage, in the U.K.,
Ethel was known as "Lady Booth" and became an active member in her new
transatlantic family for the next 70 years. Following her husband's death
and a brief second marriage, ending in divorce, Ethel became an active
board member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and a leading
proponent of the nascent Cable TV industry, as well as establishing the
Data Retrieval Center at Beverly Hills High School, hosting many cultural
programs there, also serving as West Coast Correspondent for Cable
Television Business (a trade magazine). An inveterate globe-trotter, Ethel
visited most parts of the world - traveling well into her late nineties. In
the mid-1970s she led a group of educators to China, as one of the first
exchanges of "ordinary citizens" between these two countries. One of
Ethel's favorite sayings, "I always used to be the youngest, but now I'm
the oldest," had been true for many years, but her youthful enthusiasm,
intelligence and optimistic cheerfulness never left her, as she enjoyed her
final years in her beloved Brentwood home, always happily surprised at how
tall the trees had grown outside her living room window. She died Friday
evening, February 9th, 2018, survived by her two sons (Douglas & Derek) &
daughters-in-law, cousin, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren (Colin,
Rachel, Zahra, and Azura).

Maj (Edward John) Arundell CLARKE (1868 - 19 VI 1932) was the eldest son of
Edward CLARKE (c.1822/3 - 20 IV 1895) and his wife (married 1863), Barbara
Arundell YEO (c.1839/40 - 10 VI 1898). He was the husband (married 1897) of
Violet Alice PRESS (1866 - ?), by whom he appears to have had at least one
son, and two daughters - Jane Pamela CLARKE (1903 - 1993), the mother of
the late Sir John Stewart-Clark, and Barbara Eliza CLARKE (26 IV 1900 - 14
I 1971), the wife (married 8 XI 1919) of Sir John Stuart PAGE-WOOD, 6th Bt
(28 I 1898 - 2 IV 1955).
Maj Clarke's eldest sister, Constance Barbara CLARKE (1867 - 3 XI 1931),
was married firstly, on 6 March 1905, to Adm Sir John Erskine Kennedy
BAIRD, KCB (16 IX 1833 - 8 XII 1908), son of Sir David BAIRD, 2nd Bt (1795
- 8 I 1852) and his wife (married 10 VIII 1821), Lady Anne KENNEDY (26 VI
1797 - 2 XI 1877), the eldest daughter of the 1st Marquess of Ailsa. She
was married secondly, on 15 December 1925, to (as his first wife) the 5th
Marquess of Ailsa, who was her first husband's first cousin twice removed
downwards, being a great-great-grandson of the 1st Marquess of Ailsa. She
appears in the 1921 edition of Burke's Landed Gentry under "Yeo now Baird
of Fremington", which can be found online at
