The engagement is announced between William, son of the late Sir Alec
Jardine and of Mary, Lady Jardine, of Cumbria, and Gemma, daughter of
Mr Maurice and Mrs Margaret Clish, of County Durham.

Sir William Murray JARDINE OF APPLEGIRTH 13th Bt, 24th Chief of Clan
Jardine (b 1984) is the son of Sir Alexander Maule JARDINE OF
APPLEGIRTH 12th Bt (1947-2008) Mary Beatrice (b 1951, dau of Hon John
Michael Inigo CROSS (1923-51, son of 1st Viscount CROSS by his
CHARTERIS wife a scion of the Earls of WEMYSS & MARCH) and Sybil Anne,
dau of Maj Thomas Prain Douglas MURRAY MBE TD DL of Templewood,
Brechin by his wife a scion of the TOLER gentry family).

Sir William's two unmarried brothers (b 1991 & 1994 respectively),
uncle (b 1952, m 2001 without issue) and cousins (b 1923 and 1967
respectively, father and son, the latter unm) are all listed in
Debrett as being in line. The remainder is to heirs male whatsoever,
which widens the net of those in line to the title.

Gemma Susanne L (b 1979) is the dau of Maurice CLISH (b 1934) and
Margaret M TRAYNOR
