From the Daily Telegraph 8 January 2026 - MAITLAND-CAREW Rosalind Averil (née Speke). Passed away bravely on Saturday 3rd January 2026, she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Cremation private. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at Melrose Parish Church on Friday 20th February at 2.30 p.m. All welcome.

She was the dau of Lt-Col Neil Hanning Reed SPEKE MC* DL (1917-1996), scion of the Speke gentry family of Rowlands f/o Jordans (BLG 1972) and (m 1948) Averil Allgood STRAKER of the gentry family Straker of Stagshaw (BLG 1965).
