Viscount Falmouth was the oldest living peer.  The oldest peer is now the 15th Baron Saye and Sele b 22 September 1920

Viscount  Falmouth is the third oldest  peer of all time at 102 years and 127 days behind the 9thBaron Langford (1912-2017) at 105 years and 249 days and the life peer Lord Hutchinson of Lullington (1915-2017) at 102 years and 230 days

It seems curious that despite being a Lord-Lieutenant (Cornwall) for 14 years (1977-1994) he was never appointed to the Royal Victorian Order

ahh, i see. so it's just the oldest in age, not the best peers. The label was confusing.   :)

Was Viscount Falmouth the largest landowner in Cornwall? Does anyone know the current family acreage. Also  do the family still own land in Kent?

Curious to the "heirs" of a Viscount, not known to any lower subsidiary titles like in this case, subsidiary titles include Baron Le Despencer (created 1264) and Baron Boscawen-Rose ?

Heirs to viscounts (and barons) do not use courtesy peerages, even if the title-holder has subsidiary titles. Only heirs of earls and above use courtesy peerages.

The Falmouth Packet newspaper rather misleadingly refers to him as the "Father of the House of Lords".Even if he was still in the House of Lords he was not the peer holding his title for the longest period of time.Interestly enough as oldest peer he lived very close to the youngest peer the Earl of St Germans at nearby Port Elliot just twelve years old when he inherited.

Viscount Falmouth is Patron with Right of Presentation to five Church of England livings in the Diocese of Truro

In my detective novels, the main character Lord John Penkarrow is a younger son of the maquis of Liskeard and the family estate Tresslik (pronounced Tressilick) is based upon Tregonthan . The fictional estate is 20,000 I had heard information that the Falmouth estate was of similar acreage.

Thanks. Here's the link & extract:
From the Times of 21 March 2022:
E X T R A C T
Viscount Falmouth obituary
Cornish landowner and custodian of the Tregothnan estate whose ancestor inspired a character in the Poldark novels
...He was the largest landowner in the county, with an estate almost twice the size of the Prince of Wales’s 20,000-acre Duchy of Cornwall holdings. Much of his life was devoted to the area, where the family still appoint Church of England priests in five parishes near Truro.
...Boscawen took his seat in the Lords in 1962. His interests in parliament included listed buildings and championing Cornwall, and in 1965 he intervened during a debate on redundancy payment legislation. Along with many hereditary peers he left in the reform of 1999, though he had effectively quit in 1977 on being appointed lord-lieutenant of Cornwall, an office he held until 1994...
George Hugh Boscawen was born at Mereworth, in Kent, in 1919, the second of five children of the 8th Viscount Falmouth, an engineer who became chairman of Imperial College London; two uncles were killed in the Great War. His mother was Mary Meynell, CBE, a descendant of Lord Grey, spearhead of the Reform Bill; she was vice-chairwoman of the Conservative Party in the 1930s and deputy chairwoman of the Red Cross in the 1950s. Among George’s celebrated ancestors was Admiral Edward Boscawen, victor over a French fleet off Lagos in 1759. n older brother, Lieutenant Evelyn Boscawen, was killed near Calais in May 1940 during the retreat to Dunkirk, though his remains were not identified until 50 years later. Three younger siblings, Henry, Robert and Mary, also predeceased George. The viscountcy had been created in 1720 for Hugh Boscawen, the scion of an ancient Cornish family that, according to The Sunday Times Rich List, “goes back to 1264 and reaches the present via a string of beheadings and rebellions”. It was his reward for what Country Life magazine described as “zealous personal services to George I”. The 3rd viscount is the Poldark character while in March 1829 the 4th viscount (who was also Earl of Falmouth) was Lord Winchilsea’s second in his duel with the prime minister, the Duke of Wellington, over Wellington’s support for Catholic emancipation...
...He met Elizabeth Browne through the Young Farmers’ Club and they were married in 1953. Elizabeth, who in 2002 was appointed OBE for charitable services in Cornwall, died in 2007 and he is survived by their sons: Evelyn, who manages the Tregothnan estate and becomes the 10th viscount; Nicholas, who owns an ice cream company; Charles, a retired solicitor in Suffolk; and Vere, a stockbroker. Boscawen succeeded his father in the viscountcy in 1962, when he took over the running of the Cornish estates...
Viscount Falmouth, landowner, was born on October 31, 1919. He died on March 7, 2022, aged 102

According to the Complete Peerage the family acerage in 1883 was 25000 in Cornwall and about 5000 in Kent, so they are one of the few families to have actually  increased  their holdings. Apart from Westminster, I can't think of any other peerage family that has managed to do so.

Marquess,
I think the Dukes of Beaufort have marginally increased their landholdings-certainly they haven't decreased them.

According to Who Owns England, the Dukes of Roxburghe have managed to increase their acreage by 5,000 acres on their 1873 holdings to 65,000 from 60,000 in 1873. Wellington have also managed to increase their acreage from 19,116 in 1873 to 31, 700 as of 2015 and finally the Dukes of Norfolk have only lost 3,000 acres on their 1873 figure of 49,000 acres; which represents the least loss of all the ducal families.. The greatest loss being that of Leinster from 73,000 to 0.
