From the Times of 28 Feb 2026: FREE Douglas Michael, beloved husband, father, GRANDFATHER and friend died in Pau, southwest France, on 18th February 2026, aged 76. The funeral service will be held at St Laurence’s Church Affpuddle, Dorset, at 2.30pm on Thursday 12th March 2026.

He was s of [Thomas Victor FREE 1897-1949 of Metheringham, Lincs by his 1943 reg Q2 Wisbech to as her 2 h Mary Louise WADDOUPS 1897-1958]. He m 1987 Hon Harriet Susan Anne NEILL b 1962 d of the LP Baron NEILL OF BLADEN 1926-2016 and Caroline Susan 1930-2010 d of Sir Piers Kendrick DEBENHAM 2 Bt 1904-64 and Angela Sibell 1906-65 d of Sir Richard Arthur Surtees PAGET 2 Bt 1869-1955 and Lady Muriel Evelyn Vernon FINCH-HATTON d of 12 Earl of WINCHILSEA 1851-98 and Edith HARCOURT 1855-1944 (3xgt gd of 1 Baron VERNON 1710-80, gd of 2 Earl of SHEFFIELD 1802-76, gt gd of 2 Earl of HAREWOOD 1767-1841, etc etc), and had a son and two daus.
