Hon Mark Asquith (b. 1979) only son and eldest child of Raymond,
Viscount Asquith and his wife Clare (nee Pollen) descended from the
Barings through her paternal grandmother and stepdaughter of a
deceased peer (via her mother's second marriage), recently married
Helen Prentice, a trainee doctor in Somerset, presumably at the family
estate of Mells, inherited from his great-grandmother Katherine
Frances Horner, daughter of Sir John Horner and Frances, Lady Horner
(see ODNB on her).

His grandfather the 92-year-old Julian Asquith, 2nd Earl of Oxford and
Asquith, is still alive BTW. I don't know if this is the first
marriage of any of his grandchildren; have any of Raymond's daughters
married? And does Lady Katherine Page have any issue by her second
husband?

From Richard Kay's column:

It was something of a busman's holiday for our man in Iraq,
Christopher Prentice, when he and his predecessor Dominic Asquith -
great-grandson of Liberal prime minister Herbert Asquith - attended a
wedding in Somerset the other day.
Christopher's trainee doctor daughter, Helen, married Dominic's
nephew, investment analyst Mark Asquith.
The groom's grandfather, the Earl of Oxford, 92, himself a former
governor of the Seychelles, tells me: "It is quite a coincidence,
isn't it? No doubt they had lots to talk about. It was a lovely
wedding, by the way."

If I am not mistaken the old earl along with the almost equally old
Marquis Townshend have both held their peerages for over eighty years.
The latter succeeding in 21 and the former in 28, surely the marquis
must hold the record for the longest holder of a marquisate, though I
am not sure about Asquith and an earldom?

Shinjinee, according to DB '08, none of Raymond'd 4 daughters have
married as yet.

Also Lady Katherine does not have any children from her second
marriage.

Thanks, Brooke. So Mark is definitely the first grandchild to get
married.
