From the Telegraph of 28 April 2023: KNOLLYS David Francis Dudley, 3rd Viscount, died peacefully at home on 21st April 2023. Husband of Sheelin (d. 2022). Brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather. Private family funeral and flowers from family only please…

He was s of the 2nd Viscount KNOLLYS and Margaret Mary Josephine 1901-87 d of Sir Stuart Auchinloss COATS 2nd Bt 1868-1959 and Jane Muir 1869-1958 d of Thomas GREENLEES 1841-1928 of Netherton, Castlehead, Paisley by his 19 Sept 1865 m (High Kirk, Paisley) to Margaret Kerr MCMURCHY 1845-1921. He m 1959 Hon Sheelin Virginia MAXWELL 1937-2022 d of Lt-Col Hon Somerset Arthur MAXWELL MP 1905-ka1942 (s of 11th Baron FARNHAM 1879-1957) and Angela Susan ROBERTS 1910-53 d of Capt Marshall Owen ROBERTS 1878-1931 and Irene Helen MURRAY 1882-1972 (3xgt gd of 3rd Duke of ATHOLL 1729-74, and gd of 1st Baron DUNLEATH 1819-95), and had three sons and a dau. His eldest son succeeds him:

The reference to gt gc is to the issue of the late Viscount's gd Emma Sheelin SNOWBALL b 1992 by her 2016 m to Tristan F. Doumen and has issue Ottoline June b 2019 reg Q3 W.Sussex and Aphra Rosemary b 2021 reg Q1 W.Sussex (DPB online).

Sir William (ca 1547-25 May 1632), cr 1603 Baron Knollys of Greys, cr 1616 Viscount Wallingford, cr 1626 Earl of Banbury; m.1st Dorothy (d.31 Oct 1605), dau of Edmund Braye, Lord Braye, and widow of Lord Chandos; m.2nd ca 1605 Lady Elizabeth Howard (bap 11 Aug 1586-17 Apr 1658); he had at least one child (a dau who d.before 1610) and possibly others by his second wife; she bore two sons during the marriage, though not until after more than 20 years of marriage, when her husband was 80 or more; the legitimacy of these sons was questioned immediately and ever since; there is evidence that the Earl may have in some way acknowledged the elder, but he mentioned no children in his will; the second son was:
