James Repard is the younger son of Hugo William Arbouin REPARD (15 V 1911 - 28 IV 2002) and his second wife (married 1948), Rosemary ("Rosie") PAINE (19 II 1917 - 29 IX 2003), who was herself the younger daughter of Lt-Col Albert Ingraham PAINE, CMG, DSO (12 I 1874 - 29 VI 1949) and his wife (married 21 II 1906), Elsie Caroline WYKEHAM (10 X 1883 - 12 V 1963) of that landed gentry family, of Tythrop, Oxfordshire.

Hugo Repard was the younger son of William John REPARD (13 IX 1882 - 11 XI 1929) and his first wife (married c.1909), Grace Madeline BIGSBY (c.1870 -11 X 1919). William Repard's son by his second wife (married 1920, as her second husband), Edyth Louise LATIMER (c.1888/9 - 27  VIII 1967), was Cdr (John) David Latimer REPARD, OBE, DSC (21 VI 1921 - 17 IX 2011), the husband (married 1947) of the Hon Peggy BOWYER (18 V 1925 - 17 II 2024), only daughter of the 1st Baron Denham.

I had thought that the Repard family name might have been of French origin. However, it seems that it is just the original family name with the letters in reverse order, as it came into being when the aforesaid William John Repard changed his surname from Draper to Repard by deed poll on 27 October 1908.
