From the Times of 12 August 2019: WESTWOOD William Gavin, Lord Westwood of Gosforth, on 28th July unexpectedly at home. Son of the late Bill and Marjory Westwood, busband, much-loved father of Fergus and Alistair, grandfather.=, brother and good friend to many. He will be hugely missed. Funeral at West Road Crematorium, West Road, Newcastle upon Tyne... at noon, on Friday 23rd August 2019, followed by refreshments at Northern FC, McCracken Park, Great North Road, Newcastle upon Tyne.... Family flowers only please. Retiring collection in lieu of flowers to the NSPCC. All enquiries to Regent Funeral Services...
He was s of 2nd Baron WESTWOOD (1907-91) and Marjorie (1915-99) d of Arthur Jaques BONWICK (1881-1955) of Heaton, Newcastle by his 1904 m (reg Q4 Sunderland) to Christian Ann CARNEY (1878-1962). He m 1969 Penelope (b c1944 reg Q1 Northumberland) d of Charles Edgar SHAFTO VRD (1915-94) of Jesmond Park West, Newcastle upon Tyne by his 1943 m (reg Q2 Northumberland) to Audrey Catherine ATHERTON (1917-99), and had two sons. His elder son succeeds him:
William Fergus WESTWOOD (b 1972) [4th] Baron WESTWOOD. Has yet to establish his claim and appear on The Peerage Roll. No marriage found.
