HUDSON / Redmayne engagement

From the Times of 24 November 2016: MR M G H HUDSON AND MISS M E REDMAYNE  The engagement is announced between Guy, youngest son of the late Sir Havelock and Lady Cathleen Hudson, and Eugenie only daughter of Mr Richard Redmayne of Chelsea, London, and the late Mrs Anthony Gray.

(Michael) Guy Havelock (b 1962) s of Sir Havelock Henry Trevor HUDSON (1919-96) and his 2nd w (her 2nd h - see note below) Lady Cathleen Blanche Lily ELIOT (1921-94) d of 6th Earl of ST GERMANS (1890-1922) and Lady Blanche Linnie Somerset (1897-1968 d of 9th Duke of BEAUFORT).

(Note: Lady Cathleen Hudson's son from her first marriage became the 19th Baron Herbert (cr E 1461), on termination of the abeyance of that title in his favour in 2002.)

I take this Eugenie Redmayne to be Mhari E. Redmayne, b. 1965, mother Brodrick; Richard C(harles). T(unstall). Redmayne m. 1961, Maxine M(hari). G(ould). Brodrick, who m. 2nd, 1980, Anthony J. Gray. Her brother, Charles George M(ariner). Redmayne, was b. 1966.

At any rate she is of course (as it seems necessary to note in this day and age!) the half-sister of the actor Eddie Redmayne.

Also, just to add: Maxine's father, George Sinclair Gould Brodrick (né Gould),was son of George Jay Gould and grandson of the American 'robber baron', railroad developer Jason 'Jay' Gould. George S. G. Brodrick's mother, who had been George Jay Gould's mistress until the death of his first wife (by whom he had seven legitimate children), subsequently married (as, I believe, his second wife? His third was the actress Rene Ray) George St John Brodrick, 2nd Earl of Midleton.

It means that Eugenie Redmayne and her brother Charles are second cousins of Marcus Hugh Tristram de la Poer Beresford, 7th Baron Decies (b. 1948).
