From the Times of 15 May 2018: ROWAN HAMILTON Denys Archibald died peacefully on 10th May 2018, aged 97. Beloved husband of Wanda, father to Conta, Louisa and Gawn and stepfather to David, Charles (dec'd), Linda and Ronald. 'Papa' to 27. A service of celebration will be held at 2pm, on 2nd July, St John's The Evangelist, Killyleagh. Any donations to The Black Watch Association, Balhousie Castle, Hay Street, Perth, PH1 5HR, or online.

He was s of Brig Gawain Basil ROWAN HAMILTON MC DSO (1884-1947), scion of the Irish gentry family of that name, and Phyllis Frances (1894-) d of Robert Francis Leslie BLACKBURN (1864-1944, Scots Lord of Session as Lord Blackburn) and Lady Constance Frances BOWES-LYON (1865-1951), d of 13th Earl of STRATHMORE & KINGHORNE and, therefore the late Queen MOTHER's aunt and The QUEEN's great aunt.. He m 1961 Wanda Annette (formerly Mrs Ronald Maxwell) d of Lt-Col Rupert WARBURTON MC of Baker's Farm, Eversley, Hampshire, and had a son and two daus:

1. Gawn William ROWAN HAMILTON (b 1968), who succeeds his father as head of the family. He m 1993 (reg Q3 Somerset) Polly Ann J (b 1967 reg Q4 London) d of Col Rodney J MARTIN of Weyhouse, Withypool, Somerset by his 1964 m (reg Q3 London) Dorothy Gale McARTHUR and had issue:

1.1 Archibald James (b 1997 reg Q3 London)
1.2 Jake Douglas (b 1999 reg Q1 London, the Times 26 Jan)
1.1 Tara Emily (b 1996 reg Q2 London)
1.2 Willa Melitta Dorothy (b 2003 the Times 14 Aug)

1. Constance (Conta) Orfla (b 1962) she m c1991 (eng the Times 26 Oct 1990) Michael I s of J P CRISWELL of Sherbourne, Dorset, and had issue:

Wanda (Warburton) Rowan Hamilton is a descendant, through her mother Anne Taft (Ingalls) Warburton, of the Taft family of Ohio, one of America's most famous political dynasties (a President who was also Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court; two U.S. senators, a governor, etc.), and the Ingalls family, who were major figures in the development of American railroads in the 19th century.
