From the Times of 23 March 2020: MR B J A BUTLER AND MISS E J SKETCHLEY The engagement is announced between Bertie, son of Mr and Mrs Humphrey Butler of Ludlow, Shropshire and Eliza, daughter of Mrs Katharine Sketchley of Donhead St Mary, Wiltshire and the late Mr Mark Sketchley.

Bertie James Andrew (b 1991) s of Humphrey Martin BUTLER (b March 1957) and Davina Lucy (b 1961) d of Sir (Basil Henry) David MONTGOMERY 9th Bt (b 1931) and Delia (b 1935) d of Adm Sir John Peter Lorne REID GCB CVO (1903-73, scion of the Bts of that name of Ellon and godson of Princess LOUISE Duchess of Argyll (his mother Hon Susan Baring was Maid-of-Honour to Queen VICTORIA)), and Jean (1909-71) d of Sir Henry Herbert Philip DUNDAS OF ARNISTON 3rd Bt (1866-1930) and Lady Beatrix Lucy DOUGLAS-HOME (1876-1940) d of 12th Earl of HOME (1834-1918) by his wife a descendant of the 1st Earl GREY (1729-1807).

Eliza J (b 19_) d of Mark William B SKETCHLEY (1953-95) by his 1983 m (reg Q3 London) to Katharine Victoria (b 1958 reg Q4 London) d of (William John Breary) Jack GIRARDET (1913-90) of Cadogan Court, London by his c1956 m (reg Q1 London) (as her 2nd h) to Victoria Mildred MONTGOMERIE-CHARRINGTON (1919-2009, who m 1st Maj Charles Leatham, scion of the gentry family of that name of King's Grange), scion of the gentry family of that name of Hunsdon House and of the BELLASIS gentry family formerly of Long Marton. The Mark Sketchleys also had a son Thomas Harry (b 1987 reg Q2 London) and a dau Olivia Lucy (b 1985 reg Q4 London)

He s. of Frederick Harry Sketchley (1911-1974), of Hill House, Epperstone, Notts., solicitor (Freeth, Cartwright & Sketchley, 4, Weekday Cross, Nottingham), and (m. 1947) Joyce Mary (1915-2013), dau. of William Crane, of Nottingham.

At any rate not eldest) s. of Harry Bennett Sketchley (1869-1933), of 4, Lenton Road, The Park, Nottingham, formerly of 1, Tranmer Street, Long Eaton, Derbys., lace manufacturer and (m. 1902) Elizabeth (1870-1955) [per probate, of 10, The Ropewalk, Nottingham, and of Hill House, Epperstone, Notts.], dau. of Evington Dalby (1841-1919), of Long Eaton, Derbys., silk lace manufacturer [an Evington Dalby (1675-1743), of Sutton Bonington, Notts., b. Loughborough, Leics.; connection to that family of Castle Donington, Leics.?]

A. B. Sketchley s. of Zachariah Sketchley, of Nottingham, and (m. 1811) Catherine (1792-), dau. of  "Bennit" (presumably [also] Bennett), of Wilford, Notts.

A Zachariah Sketchley b. 1786 (A. B. Sketchley head of a household including his widowed mother at Lenton in 1851 census; no evident death record for Z. Sketchley) at Loughborough, Leics. to George and Frances Sketchley; a George Sketchley m. 1785, at Loughborough, Frances Gamble.
