Oliver Richard Backhouse, who died suddenly, 10 December, 2004, aged
63, was a younger brother and for many years (from 1944 to 2002) heir
presmptive to Sir Jonathan Roger Backhouse, 4th Baronet (b. 1939).

Oliver Richard Backhouse was born 18 July, 1941, son of Major Sir John
Edmund Backhouse, MC, who was killed in action in 1944, by his wife
Jean Marie Frances Hume-Gore, and was educated at Ampleforth and the
Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Career: Fellow of Chartered Accountants. From his father's death until
the birth of his nephew Alfred James Backhouse, 7 April, 2002, he was
heir presumptive to the baronetcy (created in 1901).

He married in 1970, Gillian Irene (Gill), only daughter of L.W.
Lincoln, of Northwood, Middlesex, and is survived by her and by an
adopted son, William, and an adopted daughter, Emma.

The funeral takes place Monday, 20th December, 2004 at Our Lady Help of
Christians RC Church, Rickmansworth.
