PERSSE, Jonathan William de Burgh

A Gentleman and a Scholar
31st March 1934 - 19th September 2022

Loving and much loved husband of Georgina. Loyal and loving brother of Michael (dec) and Jane Robinson (dec) and as Uncle to her children Anthony, Anne, Juliet and Georgina.

Committed and involved friend and Uncle/Great Uncle to the numerous and lively members of both families. Deeply engaged Teacher. Steadfast in friendship to a wide circle.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at St Michael’s Anglican Church (cnr Gilliver Ave and Vaucluse Road, Vaucluse) on WEDNESDAY 5th October 2022 at 11.00am.

He was the son of Dudley Burton Parry de Burgh PERSSE (1908-1981), scion of the Persse Irish family f/o Moyode Castle, co Galway (BIFR 1976) and (m 1930) Margaret Anne Janette nee COLLINS (1908-1985).

His brother Michael Dudley de Burgh COLLINS PERSSE (1931-2018) was a longtime master at Geelong Grammar School where he taught history to KING CHARLES III (then Prince of Wales) when he stayed for two terms at Timbertop in 1966 and for which he much later received the MVO in 2015 "for services to the Prince of Wales" - it was said that the PoW went out to Timbertop a boy and came back a man.
