From the Telegraph of 22 Jan 2025: WHATELY Julian Richard, died peacefully at home in Barnes, south west London, on Monday 20th January aged 75 after a long illness. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be sadly missed. Funeral to be held at St Mary's Church, Barnes. For details please get in touch.

He was s of Gerald Arthur WHATELY OBE 1919-85 scion of that gentry family of Midford Castle (see below, s of Edith Winifred Rhoda MILBURN 1892-1984, gd of William MILBURN 1826-1903 who was f of Sir John Davidson MILBURN 1st Bt 1851-1907) and Nina Abigail 1921-94 d of Alexander MacArthur FINLAYSON. He m 1973 reg Q2 Hants Clare M S b 1948 reg Q3 Hants d of Geoffrey St John Norman HALLETT MC 1911-97 by his 17 March 1945 m (Cairo) to Patricia HAMMERSLEY-SMITH, and had three sons
