Duke and Duchess of Westminster thrilled by birth of daughter

The couple, who are the 14th richest in the country, have named their baby girl Cosima Florence

Hugh Grosvenor and his wife Olivia, who married last year, have called their daughter, who was born in London on Sunday, Cosima Florence. A spokesman said that the couple were thrilled and that mother and baby were doing well.

They added: “The duke and duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family.”

According to The Sunday Times Rich List the duke is the country’s 14th-richest person and has a net worth of £9.9 billion. The Grosvenor Estate controls 300 acres of property in the London neighbourhoods of Mayfair, Pimlico and Belgravia as well as estates in Lancashire and Scotland. It owns buildings in 40 cities worldwide and has funded big projects such as the Liverpool One shopping centre.

Described by his father Gerald as having been “born with the longest silver spoon anyone can have”, the duke is a close friend of Prince William and Prince Harry. He is godfather to Prince George and, according to reports, to Harry’s son Archie.

…One of 33 godchildren of the King, the duke is also related to Russia’s Romanov imperial family and the writer Alexander Pushkin.

I agree Brooke.I was hoping for a boy simply to relieve the stress on the Duchess.

However we shall just have to be patient.

Yes, malcolm, we will have to be patient.  After all, it took the Duke's parents 4 births to have him.

marquess, I totally agree about the short list.  The Earl's grandson was born in 2005, but he was not born in wedlock.
