From the Telegraph of 24 April 2026: SMILEY Andrew Michael died on 17th April 2026. Much loved husband to Caroline, father to Charlotte and Sarah, father-in-law to Christopher and Ned and Papa to six grandchildren. He will be remembered for his tremendous sense of humour and his courage. Andrew's Funeral will be held at 12 noon on 1st June 2026 at Grittleton Church, Wiltshire.

He was s of Maj Charles Michael SMILEY CVO 1910-(July)1991 (gs of Sir Hugh Houston SMILEY 1 Bt 1841-1909) and Lavinia 1919-(Feb)1991 d of Maj Hon Bernard Clive PEARSON 1887-1965 (yr s of 1 Viscount COWDRAY 1856-1927) and Hon Alicia Mary Dorothea KNATCHBULL-HUGESSEN 1893-1974 d of 1 Baron BRABOURNE 1829-93 (2xgt gf of 3 Earl MOUNTBATTEN OF BURMA b 1947 who is a 3xgt gs of Queen VICTORIA &c). He m 1975, (Sarah) Caroline b 1956 reg Q4 Cumbria d of Lt-Col Charles Courtenay COADE 1917-67 by his 1951 m reg Q3 Westminster to as her 1 h Pauline Violet RAMSDEN 1927-2002 (Mrs Walker), and had two daus:

1. Charlotte Mary b 1983: m Christopher __ and had issue (?three children)
