An eccentric aristocrat known for his love of fast cars and fast
living died after accidentally taking an overdose of painkillers, an
inquest has heard.
Lord Michael Pratt, 61, took handfuls of Tramadol pills to ease back
pain he had suffered since crashing a high-speed sports car years
earlier, the hearing was told.
His widow, Janet Giannuzzi Savelli, found his body in bed at their
home, Bayham Manor House, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on Sept 3, 2007.

A memorial service for Lord Michael Pratt was held recently at St
Paul's Church, Knightsbridge. The Rev Alan Gyle, vicar, officiated and
gave the bidding.
Mr John Bromley-Davenport read the lesson. Miss Cynthia Wu read On
Death, translated from the Chinese by Mr Arthur Waley, and Miss Serena
Esiri-Bloom, goddaughter, read On Death and Friendship by William
Penn. Mr Robin Lane-Fox gave an address.
Among others present were: Lady Michael Pratt (widow), Mr Luca
Giannuzzi Savelli (stepson), Marquess Camden (brother), the Earl of
Brecknock (nephew), the Marquess and Marchioness of Abergavenny, Lady
