Apparently this will be the first case of a mother and daughter together in the Lords

I am still waiting for someone to take up a peerage starting with the letter "X". At least all peerages will line up nicely alphabetically :)

S.S., at the rate life peers keep getting created, they may have to resort to that in the not to distant future!

I am interested in how life peers produce future life peers among their sons and daughters: sort of a non-hereditary inclination.

I don't have means to easily search for such families, but I recall several I've bumped into.

Robert, you can look up the Wikipedia page titled "List of related life peers". There you can find connections by blood and marriage among life peers and some hereditary peers. Very handy.

I didn't even think to look there. More than I thought. Thanks.

SS - perhaps one day a peerage will be conferred on a person of Chinese heritage called Xi/Xian or maybe on a person of Spanish heritage called Ximenes.
Interestingly Leigh Rayment only listed one knight with surname beginning X created since 1837 (among over 25,000).  He was Sir Anastasio Tipaldo Xidian cr KCMG in 1849 - from the Ionian Islands (or possibly Malta).  Leigh didn't give any dates for him

Sir Anastasio is evidently some sort of figure in Ionian politics. I found one reference to him in a notice.
