Lt-Col George PHIBBS was of that family, of Lisheen, County Sligo, which, per Burke's Family Index, last appeared in Burke's Landed Gentry in the 1912 edition. His wife (married 6 VII 1869) was the eldest daughter of Lt-Col Robert BRAMSTON-SMITH (1807 - 21 IV 1890) and his wife (married 4 IV 1839), Elizabeth Charlotte GRIFFITH (c.1817 - 4 XI 1907), second daughter of Sir Richard John GRIFFITH, 1st Bt (20 IX 1784 - 22 IX 1878), who was the son of Richard GRIFFITH (10 VI 1752 - 30 VI 1820), MP for Askeaton, County Limerick, in the Irish House of Commons, 1783-90, and his first wife (married 17 IX 1780), Charity Yorke BRAMSTON (c.1760 - 7 I 1793?).

Lt-Col Robert BRAMSTON-SMITH, who assumed the additional surname of Bramston in the year of his marriage, was the only surviving son of Joshua SMITH and his wife, Maria STEELE (1779 - 1841), younger daughter of Sir Parker STEELE, 2nd Bt (1743 - 13 V 1787).

Correction:  per Burke's Family Index, the Phibbs family last appeared in Burke's Landed Gentry of Ireland in the 1912 edition.
