Based on the above I take it that originally he was "Murphy" and added the "Stuart" name on his marriage in 1995 to Wendy Mary Joynson, née Stuart, of the Earls Castle Stewart.

I presume that he is the Edward Murphy whose death was registered in Lancashire in Q2 2018. There is also a probate record for an Edward Murphy who died on 6th April 2018, which I think must be him. Since both of those records give his surname as Murphy, rather than Stuart-Murphy, I suspect that he retained his original name, although the "(Stuart-Murphy)" in the obituary does not make for clarity in this respect.
