How Henrican! (Is there a useful verse for recalling what happened to the other five?)

Yes, it is his 6th marriage
The new bride is 48, and a psychotherapist.

Marquess goes for wedding number 6!

Marquess of northhampton

The Marquess of Northampton embarks on marriage for the sixth time. Pictured with bride, psychotherapist Tracy Goodman

Surely it’s a triumph of hope over experience for multi-millionaire Spencer Compton, seventh Marquess of Northampton, as he embarks on marriage for the sixth time.

His bride is well-regarded psychotherapist Tracy Goodman (whose specialities include treating  sex addiction).

Not even ‘Spenny’s’ painful and bitter divorce from his last wife, Lady Pamela, which earlier this year cost him £17 million, could put him off.

‘I said two years ago it would take a very special girl to make me want to get married again and Tracy is just that — a very special girl,’ Northampton, 67, tells me exclusively from his honeymoon in America.

‘People say how lucky we are to have found each other.  We’ve been truly blessed.

‘We realise everything in our lives has brought us to this moment — our choices, both good and bad, happy and sad.

‘Now we are together it all seems worth it, because if we had done  anything differently we might never have met.’

The couple met through Lord Northampton’s daughter Lady Louisa,  28  (by his fourth wife), whom Tracy met while living in California.

The   father of four wed  Devon-born blonde, Tracy 48, at Chelsea register office last week. This was followed by a blessing at his local country church and a reception for 220 at his stately home, Castle Ashby, in Northamptonshire.

Tracy trained at the famous Meadows addiction clinic in Arizona, w

The Marquess's previous marriages (no  dates, as I am writing from memory)

1. Baroness Henriette Bentinck (div, she remarried Serge Boussevain, and died some years back), issue 1 son and 1 daughter. The son Daniel, Earl Compton,
is married to (E) Lucy Cardozo, one of nine or ten children, and has issue 2 daughters.   Lucy Countess Compton's sister Lotty Bunbury is a designer and married to
Dr Michael Bunbury, resident doctor on Mustique.  (Lotty organized William and Kate's holiday on Mustique).  Lucy's brothers include Damian (married very young to Madeleine N, and has issue 6 children), Giles (married), Cosmo, and others.

2.  Annette Smallwood, who divorced him for adultery with Rosie Dawson-Damer, She married as Annette Countess Compton Simon Howard, son of Lord Howard of Henderskelfe (of Castle Howard).  He dumped her for Rebecca Sieff (of Marks & Sparks, but not an heiress), who bore him twins.  Annette has had no children.

3.  Rosie Dawson-Damer, sister in law of the Earl of Portalington, by whom he had a daughter Lady Emily Compton (b 1980) who md September 2002 financier Ed Horner (b ca 1977).

4.  Ellen Erhardt, former wife of Viscount Cowdray (now married to Marina, by whom issue 3 daus and 2 sons).  by whom a third daughter Lady Louisa Compton (b ca 1985).   She introduced her father Lord Northampton to his sixth and present wife

5. Pamela Kyprios (b ca 1945), nee Haworth, dau of toolmaker James Haworth, she married 1stly NN, and 2ndly N Kyprios, a Greek Cypriot businessman.  She married Lord Northampton 3rdly in 1990 as his 5th wife ,and they divorced in 2012, after her affair with a Romanian born scientist turned businessman (who dumped her after the divorce).   No children.

6.  Tracy Goodman (b ca 1965), psychotherapist.

Four children - one son and three daughters - from three wives out of five.   The son has two daughters only, so the title if not the estates will probably pass to the Marquess's brother's descendants or the descendants of Lord Alwyne Compton (the late Hugh van Cutsem's mother Mary Compton was sister of the late Robert Compton, and a descendant of this line).

Who knows at 48 having a child is not impossible and were it a boy?

Here is an update on the 6th marriage.  Still married at 1st wedding anniversary, and the bride is nearly 50.  No children.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2754861/So-SIXTH-time-lucky-Merry-Marquess-Northampton-sex-therapist-bride.html
"So will it be SIXTH time lucky for Merry Marquess of Northampton and sex therapist bride?"  Daily Mail 13 September 2014 (written by Alexis Parr)

The wedding years are roughly given for each marriage:
1.  Baroness Henriette Bentinck (30 Jan 1949 -  29 Nov 2010) -> 3 June 1967-1973; one daughter Lady Lara Katrina Compton (b. 1968) [twice married with 2 sons from 2nd marriage, and 1 son b 2005 by another man], and one son Daniel Bingham Compton, Earl Compton (b. 1973; aged 41) who lives at Castle Ashby with his wife Lucy (nee Cardozo) and children. (Two daughters,  Anastasia b 2002, and Theodora b 2003).  *All the five grandchildren are from his first marriage to Baroness Henriette Bentinck*.
Henriette became Henriette, Countess Compton at her divorce, then Mrs Richard Thompson, and then Mrs Serge de Boussevain (by whom 2 more children).
2. Annette Smallwood -> 1973-1977, she divorced him for adultery with Rosie Dawson-Damer (as said below); no children.  As Annette, Countess Compton, she married Hon Simon Howard, of Castle Howard, who divorced her after a fairly long marriage to marry Rebecca Sieff, by whom he has had children.
Annette, Countess Compton was Hon. Mrs Simon Howard, and now is presumably Mrs Annette Howard.
3.   Rosemary Ashley "Rosie" Morrett Dawson-Damer nee Hancock, ex-wife of Hon. Lionel Dawson-Damer of the earls of Portalington; now called Rosie, Marchioness of Northampton -> 1977-1983.  One daughter Lady Emily Compton (b. 1980), now married Sept 2012.  No children known.
She is now Rosie, Marchioness of Northampton, and hasn't remarried as far as I know.
4.   Ellen "Fritzi" Pearson nee Erhadt, ex-wife (1977-1984) of Hon. Michael Pearson, now 4th Viscount Cowdray (his 1st marriage) -> 12 Jan 1985-1988.  One daughter Lady Louisa Compton, who introduced her father to his 6th and present wife.
She is now presumably Fritzi or Ellen, Marchioness of Northampton.  (I haven't seen any pictures of her in society papers but then I haven't been following them regularly for the last 5 years).
5.  Pamela Martina Raphaela Haywood, then known as Kyprios, previously Emmanuel, as her third husband -> Dec 1990 Stratford-upon-Avon Register Office -2012 (sep 2010, div 2012 after 2 yrs court battle).  No children.  Pamela is now on her own, her lover Dr Stoicescu having married his newer mistress,  a 50 year old Dominican lady.
I'm not sure what style she uses, but she would be entitled to call herself Pamela, Marchioness of Northampton.
6.  Tracy Goodman (b ca 1965) -> md 4 Sept 2013 Chelsea Register Office - present; her first marriage and his sixth.  No children.

More importantly, the article says that the Marquess (who inherited 1978) has had five grandchildren.  I know that Earl Compton has two daughters (b 2002, and 2003), but of his three sisters -
a) Lady Lara Katrina Compton (b. 1968), who has been married twice, firstly in 1994 (div 1996) to Peter A. Falter, no issue. She married secondly 1999 (divorced circa 2005 after six years) to Junaid Jan by whom she had 2 sons, Pasha Gabriel Jan (b. 1999) and Gabriel Raphael Jan (b. 2001). She has a 3rd son, Charlie de Candole (b. 2005), by property developer Andrew de Candole

b) [by 3rd wife] Lady Emily Rose Compton (b 1980) md 29 September 2012 [engaged 11 Feb 2012] Edward M.J. Horner, or Edward Marcus Horner (b 1977)

c) [by 4th wife] Lady Louisa Cecilia Compton (b. 1985)

The Marquess's only son has two daughters (no sons or further issue known to me);  the next heir is his cousin James William Compton (b 1974), only son of the late Lord William James Bingham Compton (1947-2007) by his 1st wife, with James having 2 daughters by his wife Natasha Somers (md 2000);

After that, the Newby branch, of whom the eldest representative is the childless Alwyne Farquharson nee Compton (b. 1919), formerly of Invercauld [el son of Edward Robert Francis Compton (himself son of Lord Alwyne Compton 1856-1911, 3rd son of the 4th Marqess) & Sylvia Farquharson], and then his deceased brother Robert "Robin" Compton of Newby's elder son.  Robert Compton (1922-2009; md to Jane Kenyon-Slaney 1920-2012 as her 3rd husband) left two sons, both of whom have two sons each.

(i) James Alwyn Compton, b 11 May, 1953 (heir to the clan chieftainship of Farquharson of Invercauld), married 2ndly to Lady Tania Frances Meade, a dau of the Earl of Clanwilliam.  He or his uncle or both jointly sold the Invercauld estate 2012.  He has one son Philip Compton (b. 1980) by his 1st wife Rebecca Wigan of those baronets, and one son Frederick Alwyne (b. 1996) by his 2nd wife Lady Tania Meade.  James Alwyn is the fourth heir presumptive, after his distant cousin Daniel, Earl Compton (b. 1941), James Compton [(b. 1974) another grandson of the 6th Marquess], and his nonagenarian uncle Alwyne Farquharson (b. 1919) [great-grandson of the 4th Marquess and thus second cousin to the much younger 7th Marquess].  Philip is married, and has two daughters as well. so his heir presumptive would be his younger half-brother Frederick Alwyne Compton (b. 1996).

http://www.thepeerage.com/p6953.htm#i69523 [Philip Compton, md 2006 aged 26, has a daughter born 2007 and a second daughter born 19 Dec 2013.  So it is possible that he could still have a son]
& (ii) Richard Clephane Compton, b 18 Apr 1957, who succeeded to the Newby estate 2009, married 1982 to Lucinda Jane (not Ursula) Hohler, of that LG family.  He has sons as well.
http://www.thepeerage.com/p6953.htm#i69527  [two sons, Orlando b 1986 and Ludovic b 1989]

It is the Newby branch that is closely related to the van Cutsem family and Zara Noel, Viscountess Campden (b. 1978), wife of the heir apparent to the 6th earl of Gainsborough.  Robin and Alwyne's sister Mary Compton (b 1 May 1919 and apparently a twin with Alwyne) was the first wife of Bernard van Cutsem, and mother of the late Hugh van Cutsem (father of four sons, of whom the youngest William is godfather of HRH Prince George of Cambridge) and his brother Geoffrey, father of Zara.  Zara's mother was a McCorquodale, sister of Neil who married Lady Sarah Spencer, and she thus shares McCorquodale first cousins with Princes William and Harry.
