Years ago, I amused myself by compiling a listing of the
names of all
fictional peers that I came across in various books.
I agree with Marquess that a listing of all fictional peers would be virtually infinite.
These are only the ones I jotted down (and I stopped adding to the list 20 years ago.) For every book that I've ever read, there's another million books that I haven't, so there's almost certainly thousands upon thousands of additional fictional peers that I've never come across, or never will. For instance, the books of W M Thackeray, Anthony Trollope, Benjamin Disraeli and Sir Walter Scott are rich sources of fictional peers, but I can't pretend that I've read their entire works. In addition, if it's been written in the last 50 years, then it's almost certain that I haven't read it!
Anyway, here's my list for what it's worth.............it reads (1) name of fictional peer(ess) (2) Book/play in which the name can be found (3) Author and (4) year of publication

Jesse, Lara Croft has gone through many incarnations, each distinct but different in the last. In each of these incarnations, she has a slightly different family history and her own title and style changes alongside that of her family.
In the Original Timeline (1996-2003), she is styled (erroneously) as “Lady Lara Croft”, daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft, who married an unknown woman, who has been styled as “Lady Croft”. In this iteration, we don’t know her father’s parentage, but of course he had to be the younger son of a duke or a marquess. The developers may have also not researched properly so perhaps he could have been a “Lord Croft” as an Earl, Viscount or Baron, though this is improbable. Therefore, Lara cannot use the courtesy style of Lady. I believe that Winston, her trusty butler, often calls her “Lady Croft”, though this can be chalked up to the developer’s not accurately researching titles and styles. It would make sense if the courtesy title to the earldom was “Baron Croft” etc, but woman don’t bear courtesy styles in this way as heir to their father’s peerage, other than the exception of Scottish ones etc. Also in this timeline, Lara was to marry the “Earl of Farringdon”, though she rejected the match.
The next iteration of Lara Croft was the Legend Timeline (2006-2016). In this time her father is Richard Croft, 10th Earl of Abingdon (sometimes written as “Lord Richard Croft”, though this again can be chalked up to as an error). Richard marries Amelia DeMornay. Richard’s father was Richard James Croft, 9th Earl of Abingdon (b 1902; d 1965). In this iteration, Lara is indeed (correctly) called “Lady Lara Croft”, though she is still called this after succeeding her father. She is never referred to as “Lady Abingdon” or “Countess of Abingdon” though, and Winston (her butler), still refers to her as “Lady Croft”. This can either be an error on part of the developers, or the courtesy title to the Earldom of Abingdon could have been “Baron Croft” etc. Either way, as a woman, Lara should not be able to use that courtesy title like a man would. Even more so is the case of this Earldom of Abingdon being inheritable by Lara. The real Earldom of Abingdon was created in 1682 for James Bertie, 5th Baron Norreys de Rycote, eldest son and heir of Montagu Bertie, 2nd Earl of Lindsey, the titles later being merged together, though the real Abingdon title remained heritable to the heirs male. This Earldom of Abingdon would have a similar remainder to the now abeyant Earldom of Arlington, which has a remainder similar to a barony in fee, i.e. heirs general, thus enabling Lara to inherit since she is the only child in every iteration. No other details of Lara’s family can be gleaned however throughout the whole franchise.
The next iteration of Lara Croft is the present Survivor Timeline (2013-present). In it, she is plain “Lara Croft”. Her father is “Lord Richard Croft”, who marries Amelia de Mornay, who this time was actually betrothed to new iteration of an “Earl of Faringdon”. This timeline is the only one of the three to have correctly rendered titles and styles. Richard’s parentage remains unknown, but of course he would have been the younger son of a duke or marquess.
The 2018 movie, Tomb Raider, Lara is styled as plain "Lara Croft", her father being "Lord Richard Croft".
Also of interest is Lara’s residence and seat, Croft Manor. The address of the place being 142, Abingdon Road, Guildford, Surrey AL9 5NG. This is the actual address of Hatfield House, seat of the Marquesses of Salisbury.
The Original Timeline’s Croft Manor was inherited by Lara through an unnamed aunt. The Legend Timeline’s Croft Manor bears a striking resemblance to Hatfield, it being also used for the Angelina Jolie film adaptations. One detail about the house is that one of the earliest burial at the site being referenced was in 1788, indicating the house is older than that date. This iteration of the house was owned by her father. This iteration is also part of something called the Abingdon Estate, with three residences, two owned by the National Trust and the third being Croft Manor. In this iteration, the title and right were apparently granted by Edward VI in 1547. In the 2018 film, Croft Manor is filmed at Wilton House, seat of the Earl of Pembroke.
S.S.
The Duke of Balmoral and his second son Lord Robert St Simon in Conan Doyle’s short story The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor (collected in the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes) (Lord Backwater also mentioned). Holmes is made to address Lord Robert as Lord St Simon - something of a faux pas on the author’s part - I can’t imagine Holmes not knowing how to address the younger son of a Duke
One of Hilaire Belloc’s poems in “Cautionary Tales for Children” is about "Lord Lundy: Who was too Freely Moved to Tears, and thereby ruined his Political Career."
And who could forget the terrible fate of Lord Finchley (also Belloc):
Lord Finchley tried to mend the Electric Light Himself
It struck him dead: And serve him right!
It is the business of the wealthy man
To give employment to the artisan.
