Mr R.J.C. Cunningham and Miss S.A. Milnes Coates - The engagement is announced between Rupert, younger son of Mr and Mrs Michael Cunningham, of Yn Lawnt, Denbighshire, and Sophie, younger daughter of Sir Anthony and Lady Milnes Coates, of Helperby, York.

Rupert Jasper Clunie (b 1984) yr s of Capt Michael CUNNINGHAM and Virginia Pamela Liège (b 1949) d of Col Sir Thomas Pierce BUTLER 12th Bt (1910-94) of Cloughgrenan.

Sophie (b 1984) yr d of Professor Sir Anthony Robert MILNES COATES 4th Bt (b 1948) and Harriet Ann d of Raymond BURTON of The Old Rectory, Slingsby, York. Her brother and only heir to the title, Thomas, is unmarried and will shortly celebrate his 26th birthday.
