He was s of Rev Canon Monier BICKERSTETH (1882-1976, scion of the Lancashire gentry family of that name, and of the BIGNOLD gentry family of Norwich (* see descent below)) and Inez Katharine JELF (1882-1936). He m 1955 Rosemary (1925-2009) d of Edward Carnegie CLEVELAND-STEVENS (c1883-1962) of Broadham Manor, Oxted, Surrey, and Muriel _ and had three sons and a dau. He died on 29 January 2018.
