Brooke in your fount of knowledge (Debretts 2008) can you tell me if
any of the sons of the late Robert Holmes a Court have produced any
male heirs, also, has the current Baron had any male issue? Thanks!

Peter is perhaps the heir to the 7th and current baron, who is married
(as of 95) according to Debretts 2000, but I do not know if there is
any male issue?

marquess, the current (7th Baron), b. 1967 has been married since 1995
but the couple is childless.

The heir presumptive to the Barony is a kinsman, Peter Michael
Hamilton Holmes a Court (b. 1968). He is the son of the late Michael
Robert Hamilton Homes a Court (1937-1990). He lives in Australia and
is married. He and his wife have 2 sets of twins. The elder set, b.
1999, are boys-- George William Lark and Robert Hamilton Wim.

Peter's middle brother, Simon, is also married and has 4 children
including 1 son.

The youngest of the brothers, Paul, is unmarried.

I wonder if the following has ever happened, suppose that the younger
sister of the current heir presumptive married the current baron (if
he wasn't already married), then produced a couple of daus and then
died, the heir presumptive succeeding and becoming the 8th baron, his
sister would then be listed as a window of the 7th baron and sister of
the 8th, does anyone know if this hypothetical situation has ever
occurred.

That link is a dead end, as too was the other one in the Rouborough
case.

This is correct !.

Though according to Wikipedia, the next heir of the 7th Lord Heystesbury is a Robert Holmes a'Court, the uncle of Peter, Simon and Paul, whom all have children, which are not updated on Wikipedia...

I see I had a post on this thread in 2008.  Yikes!  I was, no doubt, a mere child....  :)

As we fast forward to the present, here is the top of the line of succession, which hasn't changed since my original post:

1. PETER MICHAEL HAMILTON (B. 1968), a great-grandson of the Hon Henry, brother of the 3rd and 4th Barons
2. George William Lark (b. 1999), elder of the twin sons of #1.
3. Robert Hamilton Wim (b. 1999), younger of the twin sons of #1, twin brother of #2
4. Simon Antony (b. 1972), brother of #1
5. William Alexander Hazard (b. 2000), son of $4
6. Paul William (b. 1973), brother of #1 and #4.

I'm hoping to be around and answer the same question in 2042.

Brooke
