From the Telegraph of 5 April 2022: JESSEL Sir Charles John Jessel, Bt, died peacefully at home on 1st April, 2022 aged 97. Loving husband of the late Shirley, much loved father of George, Alastair and Sarah. Adored by his grandchildren Amelia, Charlie, Tom, Millie, Tallulah and Elektra. Private family funeral. Service of Thanksgiving to be held at The Parish Church of St Gregory & St Martin, Wye, Kent at 2.30p.m. on Wednesday 20th April. No flowers please but donations if wished to The Kent Men of The Trees.

He was s of Sir George JESSEL 2nd Bt 1891-1977 and (as her 2nd h) Muriel Gladys 1884-1948 d of Col John Worthy CHAPLIN VC CB 1840-1920 and Isabel THOMSON c1853-1933 (scion of not descended from the THOMSON of Old Nunthorpe Bts, being niece of Most Rev William THOMSON PC 1819-90 sometime Archbishop of York and f of Sir Wilfrid Forbes Home THOMSON 1st Bt 1858-1939). He m 1st 1956 Shirley Cornelia 1935-77 d of John WATERS 1901- by his 1930 m reg Q3 Northants to Florence Cornelia ELPHINSTONE 1899-1974, and had two sons and a dau. He m 2nd 1979 (div 1983) as her 2nd h (her 1st was Charles Langer d 1968 having had 2 sons) Gwendolyn Mary 1927-2009 d of Laurence George DEVEREUX OBE 1895-1973 by his 1922 m reg Q3 Essex to Ethel Lavinia YOUNG 1898-1990. His elder son succeeds him:

He m 1st 1988 (div 1993) Rose Amelia b 1960 reg Q4 Surrey d of James Roderick COUTTS-SMITH 1924-97 of Wallington, Herts by his 1954 m reg Q3 Sussex to Daphne F[rances] SELFE b 1928 reg Q3 Essex. He m 2nd 1998 (Dorothy I.) Victoria b 1958 reg Q3 Hants d of Capt Arthur John Brabant NAISH RN 1911-2000 b his 1943 m reg Q3 Lancs to Margaret WADDINGTON 1918-2003, and had a son and a dau.
