LAKEVILLE — Anne P. Stewart-FitzRoy died unexpectedly on July 2, 2019, in Rockville, Md., where she had traveled to meet her brother, James, from London.

She was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Hove, near Brighton, England, to Captain William Wentworth Stewart-FitzRoy of the Royal Navy and the former Margaret Patricia Grant.  She spent much of her childhood and schooling in the county of Cornwall, before studying at the Sorbonne and then emigrating to the United States in the early 1960s.

In New York, where she settled and became a U.S. citizen, Anne continued her studies and received a B.A. in Business from Baruch College, and then an M.B.A. in Accounting from New York University.  She became a CPA and specialized as a theater accountant for countless on- and off-Broadway productions over a span of 50 years.

She was also an accountant for many families in New York and in the Northwest Corner, and served on the boards of Music Mountain, Crescendo and the Lake Wononscopomuc Association.  Anne lived part-time in Amesville from the 1970s to the 1990s, and then moved to Lakeville [Connecticut].

Beside her love of theater and classical music, Anne was an inveterate traveler.  In recent years she went on walking tours in Wales and Tuscany, and toured India, China and Southeast Asia.

In addition to hiking, skiing and cycling, Anne was a talented craftswoman. Her skill with knitting was well-known in the community and she used to weave and make baskets.

Anne was descended from Captain Robert FitzRoy of the HMS Beagle, later governor of New Zealand.

Besides James, she is survived by her two other brothers, Allan and Roderick, both of the U.K.
