LUBBOCK
John Ralph, late Coldstream Guards, passed away peacefully at home
13th April 2010 aged 84 after a brave battle against cancer, beloved
father of Hugh, Tom, Elizabeth, Stephen, Roderick and Rosemary,
grandfather to Sienna, Cecily, Oliver, Eugene and Carla and much loved
friend of Gilda. He will be dearly missed by all. Funeral 11.00, 29th
April 2010, The Royal Military Chapel (The Guards Chapel), Wellington
Barracks, Birdcage Walk London SW1. Family flowers only, any kind
donations to "Help for Heroes".

He was the son of Maj Ralph LUBBOCK (1891-1961), descended from a
brother Sir John LUBBOCK 4th Bt and 1st Baron AVEBURY, and his 2nd
wife Louise (d 1987) dau of James Charles VOGEL of Durban, Natal, S
Africa.
Capt Lubbock married five times. 1st 1950 (div 1957) Patricia Helen
Winifred dau of Brig-Gen the Hon Roger BRAND CMG DSO son of 2nd
Viscount HAMPDEN (and 24th Baron DACRE) and had a son by her: Hugh
Roger 1951-1981 killed in a motor accident in Rio de Janeiro. He m 2nd
1957 (div 1961) Jane Marjorie dau of Maj Evelyn Ronald Moncrieff FRYER
MC of that gentry family of Suffolk, (who was m to a scion of the
Earls PEEL) and had a further son: Thomas (Tom) Nevile b 1957, a
journalist, m without issue. He m 3rd 1963 (div 1966) Helene Gladys
Frances dau of Maj William Fergusson THOMSON. He m 4th 1967 (div 1975)
Anne Elizabeth dau of Frank Colville PEARCE and had another son and a
dau: Stephen Henry Ralph b 1970 (married and with 2 daus); Elizabeth
Serena b 1967. He m 5th 1980 Margaret Dorothy dau of Alan PEARCE and
had a further son and a further dau: Roderick John b 1981 and Rosemary
Margaret b 1984. The final wife isn't mentioned in the death notice,
where he's described as the "much loved friend of Gilda'.
The sons are in line to the Lubbock baronetcy only. All the children
are remotely in line to the English Barony of Dacre (cr 1321).
