From the Telegraph of 8 March 2024: CLARKE His Honour Sir Jonathan Dennis, died peacefully on Thursday 29th February 2024, aged 94. Much loved husband of Susan, father of Niki, Sarah, Tim (deceased) and Juliette, grandfather, and great grandfather [most likely issue of an EVANS grandchild – see below]. Very much loved and missed. Service on Friday 15th March at 2 p.m. at the Parish Church of St Peter, St Paul and St Thomas of Canterbury, Bovey Tracey, Devon... Family flowers only. He was s of Dennis Robert CLARKE 1902-67 and Caroline Alice HILL 1905-74. He m 1956 Susan Margaret Elizabeth b 1935 d of Cmdr Arthur Howard ASHWORTH RN 1897-1960 and Doreen Ruthven 1895-1988 d of Ruthven Frederic RUTHVEN-SMITH 1864-1955 scion of the SMITH gentry family of Woodhall (and 3xg gt gs of Abel SMITH c1690-1756 the Nottingham banker and ancestor of many others including The KING b 1948) and Laura Olivia 1866-1944 d of Rt Hon Sir John Charles Ready COLOMB KCMG MP 1838-1909 sometime head of that Irish Gentry family of Dromquinna and as her 2^nd h Emily Anna PALMER 1837-1907, and had a son and three daus:
