Walter John Macdonald Ross was Lord Lieutenant of Kirkcudbright in 1977, also a J.P. [see Debrett's 2008 and 2011, no doubt int. al.]. His address is given in those volumes as 'Netherhall, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire'. His father, per Debrett's 1973, was Maj. Robert Ross, of Ledgowan, Achnasheen, Ross-shire.
