Sir Richard Molesworth Staples (b. June 11 1914) was educated at St. Andrews's College, Dublin and fought in the Second World War, in Burma. He was with the Royal Air Force between 1940 and 1952 with the Royal New Zealand Air Force between 1952 and 1959.

It was almost certainly unique that the 17th baronet was the third of three brothers to inherit a title of one kind or another, can anyone come up with another such example?

This baronetcy is indeed almost certainly extinct, which is a great shame as it was one of the oldest surviving Irish baronetcies. I am told that there were three potential heirs traced to Canada, claiming descent from Rev. Alexander Staples, b. 1739 (a younger brother of the Rt. Hon. John Staples MP), but none have been able to prove their genealogical or DNA link to succeed.

A title going back so distantly, I am sure it is in abeyance rather then extinct !. Extinction is merely conclusive rather !.

Yes to the question of three full brothers inheriting, the current marquis of Aberdeen's father was the last of three brothers to inherit.
