Lady Willa. Peacefully at home on 6th May. Very dearly loved wife,
mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral at St Peter's
Church, Upper Slaughter on Friday 14th May at 2 p.m. Family flowers
only please. Donations, if desired, to Kate's Home Nursing, The
Surgery, Well Lane, Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, GL54 1EQ.
She was the dau of the 5th Earl of MINTO. She m 1946 Maj (George)
David CHETWODE MBE (b 1914) son of Adml Sir George Knightley CHETWODE
KCB CBE (1877-1957) and his 1st w Alice Clara (d 1937) dau of Maj
Vaughan Hanning VAUGHAN-LEE DL, of Dillington Park, Somerset, scion of
that gentry family, later CAMERON. Adm Chetwode was the son of Sir
George Chetwode 6th Bt and Alice Jane BASS (d 1919) sister of 1st
Baron BURTON. Adml Chetwode's brother was the 7th Bt and 1st Baron
CHETWODE.
Lady Willa and Maj Chetwode had a son and five daus, of whom Emma
Bridget (b 1950) m 1971 Simon Lindley KESWICK son of Sir William
Keswick Kt, of Glenkiln, Shawhead, Dumfries and Mary LINDLEY, scion of
the Barons LINDLEY (ext) and Lords LOVAT, and has 2 sons and 2 daus.
Another dau, Willa Mary Gabrielle (b 1954) m 1978 18th Lord
ELPHINSTONE (1953-1994, the Queen Mother's great nephew) and had issue
including the present (19th) Lord.
