26 new peerages, together with the 3 ministerial peers already announced, making it 29 peers in 36 days of the reign of King Charles III. Not even one peer per day. I'm somehow disappointed.

As of June, there were 654 life peers eligible to vote, so with the addition of these 29,that will make it 683.

At this rate, they may need  a stadium to hold future Lords' meetings.

Not too bad, 26 new Peers. I assume Boris Johnson would have had close to 50 Peers for his departure.

I thought he would have nominated a lot more than he did. To tip the balance in the Lords into the Conservatives favour. I also thought Nadine Dorries and Priti Patel would have been named Dames and Jacob Rees-Mogg would have been made a Knight.

As noted by sic, the inability of Government web-sites to spell ranks in the armed forces correctly is immensely irritating.

The last of Liz Truss's list of 26 life peerages has now been gazetted (London Gazette https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/4242928, Edinburgh Gazette https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/4240799):
THE KING has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 16 December 2022 to confer the dignity of a Barony of the United Kingdom for life upon Cleveland Anthony Sewell, C.B.E., by the name, style and title of BARON SEWELL OF SANDERSTEAD, of Sanderstead in the County of Surrey.

Thanks David
Presumably he's using (or been advised to use) 'of Sanderstead' as part of his everyday title because there's an existing similarly sounding (but different spelling) Lord Sewel cr 1996?

I am sure that Lord Sewell of Sanderstead has been required to add a place name to avoid confusion with Lord Sewel. That is what Garter King of Arms expects when settling new peers' titles which are likely to be confused. It usually applies even when the title concerned is extinct - for example, the widow of Lord Garden became Baroness Garden of Frognal.
It does depend on Garter having his eye on the ball! Titles which are confusingly similar to existing ones include Lord Layard (2000) when there was already a Lord Laird (1999), and Lord Mendelsohn (2013) when there was already a Lord Mandelson (2008).
Exceptions have been made for members of the same family. Laurence Olivier was permitted to re-use the Olivier title previously held by his uncle; and there were three generations of Lords of Appeal in Ordinary taking the title Russell of Killowen - see my list at http://www.peerages.uk/lawlords.htm.
