According to the Telegraph, Lady Pamela HICKS, younger daughter of the late 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, and a descendant of Queen Victoria, died on June 5th, 2026.   She was 97 years old.

Lady Pamela Carmen Louise MOUNTBATTEN was born on April 19th, 1929.  Her parents were Lord Louis MOUNTBATTEN (born Prince Louis of Battenberg, created 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma in 1947) and the Hon. Edwina ASHLEY (daughter of the 1st and last Baron Mount Temple).

She was the youngest of the couple's 2 daughters.  Her older sister, Lady Patricia, succeeded their father in his peerages, upon his death in 1979.  The Countess Mountbatten of Burma died in 2017, age 93.

Lady Pamela married David Nightingale HICKS (d. 1998).  They had 3 children: Edwina (b.1961), Ashley (b. 1963) and India (b.1967).  In addition to her chidren, Lady Pamela is survived by 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchidren.

Her aristocratic connections were numerous.  Through her father's line, was a 2x great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, and a first cousin of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.  She was also a third cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth.  Her hephew, Norton KNATCHBULL, succeeded his mother in her peerages and is now the current (3rd) Earl Mountbatten of Burma.

At the time of her death, Lady Pamela was the oldest living direct descendant of Queen Victoria.

Lady Pamela was the third 2x great granddaughter of Queen Victoria to die this year.

The others who passed, both in January, were Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark and Princess Desiree of Sweden.

Based on posts from just a few weeks ago, I think that leaves 45 2xgreat-grandchildren living.
