Banner JOHNSTONE was the elder son of Carruthers Charles JOHNSTONE (c.1850 - 17 XII 1885) and his wife (married 1881), Margaret Harmood BANNER (c.1850 - ?), who was a sister of Sir John Sutherland HARMOOD-BANNER, 1st Bt (8 IX 1847 - 24 II 1927).
